JAZZ
Jazz starts at 7yrs and up for those children already doing 1 modern Class a week

Jazz is a fun extension of the Modern Dance Discipline. And really stretches the boundaries, challenging the students Developing their performance and dance skills as well as being fun.

Several styles are covered through out the year, however Street Dance appears to be the most popular at the moment. A basic Modern Dance Ability is necessary to be successful In this Class, therefore being a member of a modern Class is necessary.

A variety of things go on during our Jazz Class. A warm-up starts us off. Stretching and strengthening exercises on the floor that involves partner Work. The fun element of corner work then begins building slowly, covering Turning, leaping, kicking and travelling steps. The end section of the class is dedicated to developing a routine to a specific Style. Even though at present we seem to be concentrating on Street Dance This comes in different styles and is portrayed in different ways depending On the music.
This is a diverse Class ranging from 7yrs to some of my seniors ranging from 13-16years of age. The Jazz Class is always Involved in performing (for those that choose) helping out the Musical Theatre Course (see the Musical Theatre section for more info on that) To preparing for Summer Performances in the local area and our own Shows and prize Giving during the Summer Term. During the Summer Term our Jazz Class is Performance based. Our Jazz Class is anything but dull and as a teacher is great to see the Children work as a team and be creative on a weekly basis.

All music for this discipline is free and the latest chart music is used, Which is most appealing to the youngsters.

Jazz builds confidence and strength, giving anybody taking part a more Rounded training.

This at present is an Exam free zone.

Boys: There is a class exclusively for boys that covers Modern and Jazz. However this Jazz Class is open to all that do 1 Modern Class a week
