During each
session the children will work on voice work and drama where they will do
exercises to develop their skills they will learn to work on a poem to
help put their skills into practice. We work on our drama piece for the
end of course production, which can be a scripted scene, linked to our
musical theatre piece or an improvisation or mime.
Lynn our singing
teacher will put the children through their paces during our weekly
singing session. During the warm up they will get to sing the latest
chart topping songs moving on to developing their skills such as
projection, voice control and harmonising. Lynn then works with them on
the songs we are preparing for the end of course production.
We usually work
on 2 or 3 pieces at one time incorporating dance, drama and singing. A
good portion of the session is spent working on putting all of this
together and staging our production. We also spend time with the children
developing and honing their stagecraft skills.
At the beginning
of each course we hold auditions, the children learn a short dance, a
small speech and a verse from a song. Once we have worked with them on
learning and perfecting each piece and developing some audition skills,
the audition process begins. Only children vying for a main part will be
auditioned alone. Everybody else will be auditioned in groups of five or
more. This process is undertaken to develop the children’s theatre
experience and is a fun way to begin the course.
Recording
Session – At
some point during the course the children will record their singing onto
a backing track in preparation for the production; this is a fun
experience for us all.

the performance I hand out certificates to the Children that have
completed the course.
